Download the extension files
Download transit-mesh-extension.zip ↓

Save it anywhere on your computer, then unzip (right-click → Extract All on Windows, double-click on Mac).
3
Open Chrome Extensions
In Chrome, type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter.

In the top-right corner of that page, turn on Developer mode using the toggle.
🔧 chrome://extensions → Developer mode toggle (top-right)
4
Load the extension
Click Load unpacked (appears after enabling Developer mode).

Navigate to the folder you unzipped in Step 2 and click Select Folder (Windows) or Open (Mac).
5
Pin the extension to your toolbar
Click the puzzle icon 🧩 in Chrome's toolbar → find Transit Mesh → click the pin icon 📌 to keep it visible.
6
Book your first ride!
Click the Transit Mesh icon in your toolbar. Enter pickup and drop-off, tap Post Trip & Get Bids, then accept the best driver. That's it.
✓ Auto-synced with the website: When you accept a driver in the extension, the transit-mesh.net tab updates automatically — and vice versa.
⚠ Developer mode required for now. The extension will be submitted to the Chrome Web Store in a future update. Until then, Developer mode lets you run it directly from the files.
1
Sign in first
Go to transit-mesh.net/passenger and sign in.
2
Download the extension
Download transit-mesh-extension.zip ↓

Unzip the file to a folder on your computer.
3
Open Firefox Debugging
Type about:debugging in the Firefox address bar → click This Firefox in the left panel → click Load Temporary Add-on…
4

Navigate to the unzipped folder → select the file named manifest.json → click Open. The extension loads immediately.
5

Click the Extensions icon (jigsaw piece) in Firefox's toolbar → find Transit Mesh → click Pin to Toolbar. You're all set!
⚠ Temporary add-on: Firefox resets temporary extensions on restart. Re-load it from about:debugging after each browser restart until the extension is published to the Firefox Add-ons store.
1
Open Transit Mesh in Chrome
On your Android phone or tablet, open Chrome and go to transit-mesh.net. Sign in to your account.
2
Add to Home Screen
Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome.

Tap "Add to Home screen" (or "Install app" — both work).

A dialog appears — tap Add to confirm.
📲 Chrome ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen → Add
3
Find it on your home screen
Transit Mesh now appears as an app icon on your Android home screen. Tap it to open in full-screen mode — no browser chrome, just the app.
4
(Optional) Add as a widget
Long-press an empty area on your home screen → tap Widgets.

Look for Chrome in the widget list → find the Shortcut widget → drag it to your home screen → select Transit Mesh as the shortcut target. This gives you a quick-tap widget without opening a full app session.
5
Enable notifications
Open the Transit Mesh app → sign in → when prompted, allow notifications. You'll get alerts when drivers bid on your trip, even when the app is in the background.
✓ Already a full app: Transit Mesh is a Progressive Web App (PWA). When installed this way, it behaves exactly like a native Android app — offline support, push notifications, and home screen shortcut included.
1
Open Transit Mesh in Safari
On your iPhone or iPad, open Safari (must be Safari — Chrome on iOS doesn't support home screen installation).

Go to transit-mesh.net and sign in.
2
Tap the Share button
Tap the Share icon at the bottom of Safari (the box with an arrow pointing up ↑).

Scroll down in the Share sheet until you see "Add to Home Screen".
⬆️ Safari Share button (bottom bar) → Add to Home Screen
3
Name & add
A dialog shows the app name (Transit Mesh) and icon preview. You can rename it if you want. Tap Add in the top-right corner.
4
Launch from your home screen
Find the Transit Mesh icon on your iPhone home screen. Tap it — it opens full-screen with no Safari address bar, just like a native app.
5
Enable notifications (iOS 16.4+)
After installing, open the app from your home screen and sign in.

Tap Allow when prompted for notifications. On iOS 16.3 or earlier, push notifications are not available for web apps — you'll see in-app alerts instead.
✓ Full-screen experience: Once added, the app hides Safari's navigation bar and uses the full display — including the area behind the iPhone notch and home indicator.
⚠ Must use Safari. Apple only allows Add to Home Screen from Safari on iOS. Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers on iPhone cannot install PWAs.
